Rimowa expands its handbag category with the Original Bag

As they say, don’t gild the lily. When you have something as great as the RIMOWA Original suitcase, don’t change it. This is exactly what Rimowa did with its brand-new Original Bag. Back in June 2019, the German luggage purveyor collaborated with Dior Men for a limited-edition luggage-like clutch and it became an “It” bag among fashion enthusiasts. Shortly after, they launched a similar-looking Personal Cross-Body Bag reinterpreted in bubbly pastel colours. RIMOWA quickly realised the success of its foray into the handbag category. This year, RIMOWA rides on the wave of the popularity, introducing another arm candy, the Original Bag, which is surely an instant hit.

It heralds a new era for RIMOWA with the introduction of the brand-new unisex handbag. Inspired by the brand’s Original Suitcase, it shares similar attributes of sleekness, durability and versatility. Made in Germany, the Original Bag boasts a hard-side and lightweight aluminium body, decorated with its emblematic grooves. It also comes with a RIMOWA-pioneered button mechanism that facilitates opening and closing.

To celebrate the debut of the Original Bag, the Cologne-based company, together with Anomaly, have unveiled a new campaign. Directed by filmmaker Jordan Hemingway and shot by Louise and Maria Thornfeldt, the film follows supermodel Liu Wen, rapper Central Cee, journalist and creative director IB Kamara, and photographer Larissa Hofmann as they explore the city, offering a peek into boisterous metropolitan life.
