Yesterday, Givenchy took to Instagram to announce the new appointment of Clare Waight Keller as the brand’s first female artistic director, following the departure of Riccardo Tisci after a 12-year tenure.
Freshly off from helming Chloé, Clare will be assuming her role at Givenchy from 2nd May 2017 onwards and her creative responsibilities will include women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, accessories, as well as haute couture.
This will also mark Clare’s first ever venture into the world of haute couture and the fashion world is waiting in bated breath to see how her known minimal elegance translate to Givenchy, which has been heavily influenced by Riccardo’s pop culture aesthetics.
Clare will be presenting her first collection for Givenchy later this year in Paris for Spring/Summer 2018.
