In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of its Ocean Star collection, Mido has launched the Ocean Star Tribute, featuring a magnificent reinterpretation pair of dive watches with strong Sixties vibes that were responsible for the success of the original models.
Encased within stainless steel cases measuring just over 40mm, the dials – in Mediterranean blue or deep black – are sheltered under a sapphire crystal and the colour enhanced by a unidirectional rotating bezel with an aluminium ring in the same tone. The seconds hand varnished in vivid orange (the so-called Mido colour) and the painted – as opposed to applied – indexes further emphasise the retro look. Turn them around and the case-backs show off a starfish, the historical emblem of the Ocean Star.
While the design pays tribute to the brand’s glorious past, the watches house the Calibre 80, a cutting-edge automatic movement which offers a power reserve of up to 80 hours, which make them absolutely contemporary. The brilliant mechanism, together with reliable water resistant up to a pressure of 200 metres, will appeal to water sports enthusiasts who are looking for a robust and hardy watch that can withstand all conditions.
The ultra-comfortable steel multilink bracelets can be replaced with either a blue technical fabric or a textile-look black leather strap making the Ocean Star Tribute watches appropriate whatever the occasion dress code may be.
