It is not called the GG Psychedelic Collection for no reason. Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele injects colours into the iconic GG logo to give it that memorable dreamlike quality, not to mention an energetic streetwear vibe what with the use of rainbow-hued star motif patterns that are ultra-bold and otherworldly. Visual distortion and surreal imagery, the visionary pieces tap the spirit of the psychedelic era of the Seventies.
The novel version of the monogram is spread across different pieces of luggage such as backpacks and shoulder bags which, in the layers of contrasting colours, also have black, pink and green leather trim. The vibrant treatment is applied to the men’s and women’s ready-to-wear as well as shoes, small leather goods, a watch and an assortment of fine jewellery so to be as all-encompassing as possible. Together, they represent the GG Psychedelic Collection.
For the gents, the Psychedelic monogram is coupled with a sporty spirit. For example, a technical jersey tracksuit comes with a zip-up hooded over-jacket with piping detail and matching trousers, and a long nylon windbreaker and a nylon waistcoat with a quilted lining and a quirky swim trunk in the same fabric. In addition, a bowling set of loose shirt and short trousers in a washed silk twill rounding everything up with a polished and refined twist. And the ladies? The ready-to-wear pieces come primarily in silk and jersey, and knitwear. There is a pyjama set, an ensemble of shirt and pleated skirt and a chemiser dress in silk twill. Channelling streetstyle is the jersey line-up consisted of a hooded tracksuit jacket with matching shorts, a windbreaker, and a dress featuring a drawstring at the waist, not forgetting a cardigan and a short-sleeve top in high-quality wool that keep you cool in warm temperature.
Fashionable and functional, when it comes to the luggage, the wide-ranging pieces (in the GG Psychedelic pattern, naturally) are all trimmed with either black, green or pink leather. One of the key items is a guitar case, which – if you think about it – makes perfect sense given the psychedelic theme. There are shoulder bags, backpacks, a belt bag, duffle bags, a hard hat case in two sizes, soft and hard suitcases and trolley bags too. The Gucci Psychedelic design small leather goods include a pouch, basic wallets, a zip-around wallet, two card cases and smartphone covers, and shoes such as a rubber slide, a slip-on and, Ace low-top sneakers and a new high-top version for the guys.
Last but not least, the accessories. The extensive offerings range from a silk carré and a modal-silk shawl to a pair of socks and a water-resistant hoodie, a baseball cap with a mesh back to a fedora hat. And besides a variety of fine jewellery, there is a G-Timeless Contemporary watch with holographic effect demonstrating an exemplary combination of modernity and traditional watchmaking.
