After a 10-year hiatus since 2008, designer Alexander Wang collaborates with Uniqlo once again to launch a new underwear collection, set to be launched on 9 November 2018.
Based on an interview with Vogue, we can see that Wang is a big fan of Uniqlo; he reveals what kind of items he would buy at Uniqlo, sharing, “Socks, underwear, those everyday essential items. It’s not fussy, it’s pure, there’s quality to it”.
Fusing the aesthetics of Wang’s eponymous brand and Uniqlo’s Heattech, the collection comprises bodysuits, tees, leggings, briefs and bras for men and women, respectively.
Inspired by sports elements with a tinge of the ’80s, all of the basics come in a range of neutral colours, as well as a conspicuous neon green (Wang’s personal favourite colour). The collection will be priced between RM59.90 to RM129.90.
On the collaboration, Wang says, “When I look into expanding into additional categories, I seek out partners that really can innovate the product we make and how our fans can access it. Uniqlo are the ideal partners for this collection of innerwear because we share an appreciation of functionality and utilitarianism, and I am thrilled our collaboration has resulted in developing a new Heatetch line; the perfect place to pick up from where we left off ten years ago”.
