High fashion? Check. Streetwear? Check. Sneaker? Check. Popstar? Check. Swiss watch? CHECK. Crossing Swiss watchmaker off his list of collaborators, Takashi Murakami has recently unveiled a collaboration with Hublot during LVMH Watch Week 2021.
Known for having created the “Superflat” art movement in the ’90s and his colourful fine art-meets-anime artworks, Murakami, alias the Warhol of Japan, has worked with countless big names including Louis Vuitton, Supreme, Vans, Billie Eilish, J Balvin and Virgil Abloh. And now, for the first time, the artist has collaborated with a Swiss watchmaker.
Adeptly combining Hublot’s ingenious craftsmanship and Murakami’s one-of-a-kind style, the smiling flower of The Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black comes to life with ball-bearing system developed by Hublot’s engineers — the petals can turn around the head of the pistil. To achieve artistic pinnacle, smiling 3D flower head set on top of sapphire crystal is adorned with 107 black diamonds whereas the rotating decor with 12 black-plated petals decorating the black lacquered dial is embellished with 456 black diamonds.
Powered by MHUB1214 Unico Complications with power reserve of 72 hours, the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black is ensconced in 45mm satin-finished and polished black ceramic case, which is inspired by the brand’s iconic Classic Fusion collection. Limited to 200 pieces, the watch is matched with black lined rubber straps and black-plated stainless steel deployant buckle clasp.
