From Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Omega to Chanel, see all the best watch and jewellery moments from Met Gala 2024.
All eyes are on the best dressed at the Met Gala 2024, but what truly completes a look are its finishing touches or punctuations of watches and jewellery. The interpretations of the dress code, The Garden of Time, to celebrate the opening of the exhibition Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, are varied and go multifold — no less expected for the biggest fashion and jewellery outing of the year.
The red carpet presented everything from full emerald suites like Cardi B’s Kamyen Jewellery set and Michelle Yeoh’s Cindy Chao emerald ensemble, to flora and fauna references via Amanda Seyfried’s laurel tiara or Emma Chamberlain’s debut of Cartier’s newest High Jewellery Nature Sauvage collection — all speaking directly to the word “garden”. Houses with lots of animal imagery in their couture archives (like Tiffany and Co. or Boucheron) also brought the heat, while other maisons bet on the “time” aspect by expanding on it literally: Barry Keoghan’s triple Omega watch moment; Sabrina Harrison’s custom Chris Habana clock dress; Usher’s insane Jacob & Co. The Billionaire IIII Rubies made of 147.65 carat rubies.
Other notable watch and jewellery appearances tapped on the J. G. Ballard tale that inspired this year’s theme more conceptually, with references to historic moments via Michelle William’s ode to Coco Chanel’s iconic 1932 fine jewellery collection, or as an embodiment of timelessness and circularity as seen on FKA Twigs’ and Cara Delevigne’s lab-grown diamonds or Tyla’s custom Balmain “Sands of Time” dress. Read on to see a curation of our favourite watch and jewellery plays on the “Garden of Time” from Met Gala 2024.
