LV SS25 Pre-Collection: A confession of puppy love

Louis Vuitton’s Spring-Summer 2025 Men’s Pre-Collection takes luxury down a road less travelled, reminding us that the brand wants to be associated with more than just gilded showrooms or champagne-soaked high life. There’s something more grounded this season — an aspiration rooted in the warmth of home, yet still undeniably chic. The 170-year-old French maison has always danced between extremes, and this time, it’s inspired by the charmingly mundane act of a man walking his dog to the park.

Tapping into the eccentric charm and refined traditions of English dog shows—a sport steeped in centuries-old heritage — Louis Vuitton infuses an air of playful dandyism into the everyday wardrobe. The collection captures a unique balance: formal yet effortlessly nonchalant, embodying a sophisticated irreverence. Tailored suits meet utilitarian elements, with flared, wide-leg trousers and skate shorts creating a seamless blend of high fashion and streetwear. The colour palette leans toward classic gentleman’s neutrals, but it’s the intricate textures that truly enchant—elaborate weaves and illusionary patterns that shift with the light, imbuing each piece with depth and an allure that invites closer inspection.

Throughout the collection, there’s a playful nod to the bond between man and dog, with paw prints subtly appearing on fabrics, like hidden whispers waiting to be discovered by the observant. This connection deepens through the jewelry, where aged gold-finish necklaces, dog bone-inspired bracelets, and Monogram pieces intertwine floral motifs with dice and Damier links. The craftsmanship, imbued with a sense of tenderness and nostalgia, makes these pieces feel like keepsakes, not just accessories.

And then, just when you think the collection has hit peak Louis Vuitton, the maison gives us their own spin on a pet shop — because why wouldn’t your dog need a Monogram trunk? The line-up of accessories features collars, leashes, harnesses, even dog bowls housed in wood and Monogram canvas. There’s a dog-house trunk too, in case your pup needs its own Louis Vuitton crib. It’s functional luxury, with a wink, a knowing nod to the ridiculousness of it all.

For those who want to twin with their four-legged friends, the collection comes with matching velvet berets and coordinated neckties and bandanas. It’s cheeky, it’s cute, and it’s just what you’d expect from a brand that knows how to have fun with fashion. Because from Louis Vuitton it’s more than about what you wear — it’s about the life you live wearing it.
