Philipp Plein FW25: A Sway From Its High-Octane Route

The latest Philipp Plein collection marks a deviation from its loud and flashy aesthetic.

In the saturated luxury market, dominated by understated elegance inspired by time-honoured legacies and anti-fashion that gained traction among the younger generation, Philipp Plein has stood out with its unmistakable signature of maximalist aesthetic — one so bold that we can spot it from miles away. Often teeming with eye-catching monogram, crystal embellishments, distressing cut and bold graphics, Philipp Plein has found a devoted following of fans who adore his hard-to-miss fashion, staggering and outlandish fashion shows, and perhaps his controversial gimmicks that often leave many with their jaws dropped.

The latest Philipp Plein Fall/Winter 2025 show proved that his “extravagance” was alive and here to stay. With live performances of rapper French Montana setting the tone for the show themed “I Like It Dirty”, the collection embodied Philipp Plein’s unapologetic maximalism. The show was replete with rock-and-roll pieces and 2000s fashion that immediately called to mind the brand’s identity — suits decorated with tattoo-inspired graphics, jeans finished with a spray-paint effect, and monochrome suits set off by shield sunglasses.

The collection also marked a departure from the flashy and monogram-laden Fall/Winter 2024 collection. Leaning towards the casual end of the fashion spectrum, logomania was swapped for athleisure wear, while preppy chic was reinterpreted through the rebellious spirit of Philipp Plein.

With the Fall/Winter 2025 collection, Philipp Plein has taken a more pared-down approach, swaying from the usual high-octane route that defines the German brand. In an era where comfort takes precedence and dress codes are loosening, this minor tweak to its distinguished DNA may be an attempt to speak to the younger generation.
