Ralph Lauren receives Honourary UK Knighthood

Adding another accolade to his list of achievements, Ralph Lauren is officially now an Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE) for his services to fashion.

He was conferred the honorary knighthood insignia by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in a private ceremony at Buckingham Palace, thereby becoming the first American fashion designer to receive the honour.

Originated from Bronx, New York and studied business at Baruch College, Ralph Lauren is known for growing his eponymous American luxury fashion house into a celebrated fashion behemoth. Before receiving the prestigious accolade, Lauren has received numerous other honours including the Key to the City, French Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur and James Smithson Bicentennial Medal.

He was also the recipient of Womenswear and Menswear Designer of the Year, Retailer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Humanitarian Leadership Award and American Fashion Legend Award presented by Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

On top of his illustrious achievements, he is also an active philanthropist who established plenty of healthcare centres and made donations to enhance research and develop new treatments in mitigating cancer illness.
