There is something about colours. Each and every one of them embodies a power that affects thought processes and memories, triggering strong physical and emotional reactions. Christian Dior’s penchant for this form of non-verbal communication was a well-documented fact that could be seen from his works throughout his life, and then by his successors later.
The French designer, entrepreneur and visionary was once quoted as saying, “My childhood home was roughcast in a very soft pink, mixed with grey gravel, and these two shades have remained my favourite colours in couture.”
However, aside from the pastel variants, Dior was also fond of striking hues – particularly red – which he utilised to craft a captivating juxtaposition and impactful divergence to boot. Given that a majority of the fashion powerhouses have been revisiting their archives, the interplay of classic colours and silhouettes in the Dior Homme Atelier Autumn 2018 line-up should come as no surprise.
Boasting an all-encompassing colour palette that ranges from electrifying orange and blue to enigmatic burgundy, grey and black, the leather goods consist of supple yet hardwearing grained leather backpacks, briefcases, duffle bags, pouches and crossbodies, not to mention a collection of other items, featuring the “Christian Dior Atelier, 3 Rue de Marignan” stamp.
A matching charm in the Dior Homme bee shape clings onto each design, injecting it with an element of fantastical energy and evoking emotions associated with the brand’s iconic insect.
Whether it is to hold your laptop, smartphone, keys, cards or wallet, you can rest assured that you’re going to find a design – and colour – that will suit both the occasion and your personal style.
So now the question is: Which one would you pick?
