Since his arrival, Matthew M. Williams has been marrying Givenchy’s couture flair and his streetwear sensibility, reinterpreting the French fashion house with his very own vernacular. The introduction of Gentleman Society Eau de Parfum sees the creative director once again infusing the creative mash-up into the new fragrance creation.
A homage to the Gentleman fragrance that was first launched in 1975, the latest perfume under the helm of Matthew M. Williams is an embodiment of a metropolis that is imbued with multi-faceted masculinity. Like the Givenchy collections, where streetwear modernity meets couture savoir-faire, the Gentleman Society perfume plays with the art of juxtaposition, blending feminine floral notes and masculine woody accords into one.
Composed by perfumers Maïa Lernout and Karine Dubreuil, the new scent perfect for formal occasions delivers a burst of heady, aromatic notes of cardamom and clary sage upon first spritz. The spicy and peppery top notes is then tempered by the opulent Narcissus absolute harvested from France while the multifarious vetivers from Madagascar, Uruguay and Haiti serves up a mix of smokiness, warmth and woodiness. Concocting with an addictive base, the fragrance tops off with sweet vanilla absolute, musky ambroxan and warming sandalwood.
The powerful yet refined fragrance is now encapsulated in black lacquer flagon that pays tribute to the L’Interdit, the House’s emblematic feminine perfume. Featuring an embossed metal plate bearing the iconic Givenchy 4G logo, the bottle is a parade of the French fashion house’s commitment to sustainability, which is crafted from 15% recycled glass and available in 60 ml and 100 ml bottles.
