Montblanc has always been about the details, with each design element telling a story. That driving force transcends the maison’s products and encroaches into the experience as well. Which is why, when the brand presented its Fall/Winter 2025 novelties during Milan Fashion Week, the focus was on the journey as much as it was on the pieces themselves.
Another driving force behind Montblanc has always been about expression through writing. When one transmutes their thoughts into ink, there has never been a better way to do it than through the maison’s writing instruments. As such, ‘The Tree Of Writing’ that was displayed in the showroom — and created in collaboration with the art studio Edinas Paper — made an apt installation to set the mood.
Because how else do you symbolise the magical act of writing? How would you demonstrate the ability to preserve and communicate thoughts beyond time and geography? In this case, you do it through book pages fashioned into tree leaves, each printed with inspirational quotes selected by the maison’s artistic director Marco Tomasetta.
Tomasetta, who has always played an integral role in the brand’s creative vision since joining the maison, co-created another art installation to celebrate the power of writing, a collaboration with Italian sculptor Andrea Roggi.
In the main showroom were Montblanc’s Fall/Winter 2025 novelties, with the Writing Traveller serving as the heart of the collection. At its core, this piece was described as a handbag crafted to hold desk essentials such as writing instruments and notebooks.
Its other fitting description, “a piece that bridges Montblanc’s leather craftsmanship with the universe of the desk”, beautifully articulates Tomasetta’s vision for this piece. After all, items that aid self-discovery should be ones that stick with us for life, and the Writing Traveller serves that purpose, especially as we flit from one adventure to another.
Other new pieces include compact leather designs such as a small bowling bag, multifunctional wearable wallets, and cross-body bags. The finishes on these leather goods have also seen new additions, such as ostrich print and jacquard patterns.
If this collection seemed like it leaned towards earthy tones, it is because the palette was inspired by the natural elements found at the base of Mont Blanc mountain.
Marco Tomasetta summed up the collection with this to say: “Since the beginning, Montblanc has designed pieces to accompany people on their journeys whether crossing borders and cultures or exploring life by putting pen to paper. Paying homage to this concept at Milan Fashion Week, a global destination where boundless creativity converges and people travel to from around the world, seemed only fitting. The showroom offers an opportunity to reflect on what the journey means to us and spotlight its relationship with writing — an act that has the power to capture a personal journey and be a transformative journey in itself.”
