Apo Nattawin talks Piaget endorsement

How does Piaget’s philosophy “Always Do Better Than Necessary” resonate with Thai Actor “Apo” Nattawin Wattanagitiphat? Men’s Folio reveals that and more in an interview with the maison’s recently appointed global ambassador.

Earlier at the watchmaking premiere — Watches & Wonders Geneva — Thai actor “Apo” Nattawin Wattanagitiphat sprinkled a healthy dose of stardust at the maison’s booth as he made an appearance alongside actors Lee Junho and Ella Richards. Apo’s standing with Piaget then was still amicable, being Piaget’s Friend of the Maison. That status has since changed after Apo was announced as Piaget’s global ambassador in mid-April 2024, shortly after Watches & Wonders Geneva concluded.

“It is an honour to have Apo be a part of this new creative dynamism. Just like Andy Warhol or Salvador Dali in the past, he has this trailblazing attitude that inspires everyone around him and creates a new light. One that never fades,” says Fatemeh Laleh, Piaget’s global director of communications and image. After spending some time with Apo in Geneva for an exclusive soundbite, Men’s Folio followed up with an interview about his newly appointed role and more.

Apo Nattawin Channels Piaget’s Signature Of EleganceIt was your first time attending Watches & Wonders Geneva with Piaget in Geneva, you must be really excited to be part of this incredible experience.
Yes, I am. I have a keen interest in and love for watches, and being in the heart of Geneva — surrounded by other people who are excited about watches — is a real joy and privilege. For myself, watches have a deeper meaning than just keeping time. Watches can mark special moments in your life.

You were appointed Piaget’s first-ever friend of the brand from the South Asia region in September 2023 and were recently appointed global ambassador. It must be an honour and privilege for you to join the maison.
It is a real honour to be part of the Piaget Family and what we refer to as the Piaget Society. I greatly admire how the maison has maintained its beliefs, uniqueness, and exquisiteness since its inception. Expect a lot of exciting stories and moments to come, especially for their 150th anniversary.

What are some of Piaget’s values that resonate with you?
Piaget’s dedication to excellence and elegance. I resonate with Piaget’s DNA of craftsmanship, vibrancy, bold style… and so many more! It keeps me inspired to continue striving for my best while being true to who I am.

Founder Georges-Édouard Piaget’s motto for Piaget is, “always do better than necessary”. How does this apply to your everyday life?
I believe in asking myself, “Can I do more or better?” Without this mindset of “always do better than necessary”, my passion would not thrive, and I would not be able to create something novel from my perspective. My ambition is very important to me, both in my work & personal life. It’s essential to keep this mindset and continue to nurture my passion.

Piaget launched some incredible pieces in Geneva to celebrate the brand’s 150th anniversary. Which release was a favourite of yours?
The Piaget Altiplano Concept Tourbillon! It’s record-breaking and the world’s thinnest tourbillon that is still wearable. It’s a watch as thin as my credit card. It was incredible to have it in my own hands and a privilege to try it on.

The gold craftsmanship, the bold & vibrant colours — the creations look like a work of art.

Men these days are more receptive to wearing jewellery. What are your styling tips and preferences when it comes to wearing jewellery?
It’s all about enhancing your charm and who you already are. For example, I love to wear Piaget’s Rose Gold Possession Rings or Pendent Collection because of the “Decor Palace” detail. It helps me express myself as a meticulous person, and I choose rose gold because it lifts my skin tone.
