With a century under its belt, Fendi does not pretend to be an ingénue in fashion’s ever-evolving stage with changes that move at the speed of light. Celebrating a hundred years of legacy, Fall Winter 2025 also marks the first collection designed in-house since the departure of former creative director Kim Jones. A story spanning five generations of the Fendi family, the collection was led by Silvia Venturini Fendi — granddaughter of founders Adele and Edoardo Fendi — whose 7-year-old twin grandchildren opened the show. Across press interviews from star-studded guests like Sarah Jessica Parker, Bang Chan of Stray Kids and Yuqi of (G)I-DLE, the idea of family, kinship and hospitality is what makes Fendi endlessly relevant.
For a collection with such cultural and historical significance, it would be predictable to reference its centennial archives and rehash old designs on younger, flashier models. Instead, Fendi looks to her own memories to tell an authentic story about her family. As purveyors of fine leathers and furs, Fall Winter 2025 presents Fendi’s vision of opulence through looks that read like the timeless outfits worn by family members in a photo album — everyone is dressed in their finest pelts to be remembered for decades to come. Under billowing fur coats and robes are crystal-encrusted slips and sleek knits that create a glamorous impression. Fendi prints off — textures come in the form of ripple-like quilts, ribbed knits and pleated fabrics. While the looks may appear storied, material innovation is woven into new designs, with shearling that has been modified to resemble mink, as seen in the opening look.
For the boys, boxy, oversized outerwear mirrors the women’s offerings and is juxtaposed with svelte tailoring that adds to the air of regality. Icons of the house like the Peekaboo and Baguette bags come in playful variations, further emphasising the kaleidoscopic possibilities of Fendi.
At Fendi, blood runs thicker than water — family knows best when it comes to honouring the past and offering comfort in what lies ahead. Legacy is not just a buzzword that is easily thrown around in a landscape that is quick with rebrands and overhauls. More than just a fling, Fendi commits and is in it for the long run.
