There is an element of joy that comes with sharing an experience and co-creating with an old friend — they know your strengths, you know their quirks, and how you both share the same point of reference having grown up together. Just like how two same wavelengths are layered to produce a stronger signal, the Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall Winter 2025 show is a triumphant ode to friendship, marked by a shared past and an ongoing synergy. Led by Creative Directors Pharrell Williams and Nigo who founded streetwear labels Billionaire Boys Club and ICECREAM together in 2003, this collaboration comes as another triumphant take on subculture through the Maison’s refined craftsmanship.
As with any longstanding friendship, there are physical objects that encapsulate Pharrell and Nigo’s kinship. Resembling a museum archive, the majestic set features a sphere of vitrines that were initially obscured representing an overarching commentary on the Maison’s rich history and thorough research. Later revealed to contain a myriad of memorabilia sourced from private collections — including Pharrell and Nigo’s own, each piece represents a memento of their friendship that now serves as their point of reference to tell this story.
Taking cues from the early 2000s, silhouettes are reminiscent of their streetwear roots, yet feature an element of dandy elegance native to Louis Vuitton. Through their eyes, what makes streetwear apparent is the use of jackets and outerwear. Workwear and sportswear are imbued with a preppy, playful flair that refines them without feeling uptight. In this collection, a humble chore jacket is sprinkled with crystal flowers, while a baseball jersey is covered in Vuitton’s signature monogram. Representing the confluence of Japanese and American innovation as a nod to the duo’s upbringing, denim becomes an important design element in this collection. A highlight of this collection is the Dandy Monogram which incorporates the Maison’s flower motif with shippo weaving to bring an artisanal feel to denim pieces. The use of sashiko stitches, boro repair techniques and kasuri weaving in designs represents Vuitton’s commitment to savoir-faire.
Central to this collection are the leather goods and accessories that define the Maison’s most sought-after touchpoints. Making a debut in this collection are the Damier Phriendship bags that feature the duo’s face profiles, overlaid on top of the new Dandy Damier. Discover the iconic Speedy bag in new hues inspired by Japanese culture, alongside the Denim Boro Landscape bag — exceptional showcases of Japanese artisanship, now solidified as new streetwear staples. A highlight in footwear, the new LV ButterSoft sneaker pays homage to the early aughts, featuring a soft padded form and a rounded toe that is said to come in fifty colourways.
Typical of any spectacle Louis Vuitton puts on, there is a lot to see. Bound to be spotted on your favourites across press tours to music videos, Fall Winter 2025 carries a jovial spirit that makes luxury look easy. As the kids on Stan Twitter would say, this is the equivalent of what happens when two queens come together to maximise their joint slay.
